A third trailer for the Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha anime adaptation has been released, previewing the opening song “Paraglider” by Kaori Ishihara. A July 3 (effectively July 4 at 2 AM JST) premiere date was revealed as well.
Additionally, it was announced that Shiori Saeki and Minami Kurisaki are playing the roles of Mina Ichinose and Fuka Sasaki, respectively.
Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha is based on the Hobby Japan-published light novels written by Okemaru and illustrated by Mizore Saba, which are published under the HJ Bunko label. The series began in June 2020 and has eight volumes as of April 2023.
The story follows Wataru Sajo, a high schooler who is so in love with his classmate Aika Natsukawa that he dreams about them having mutual feelings for each other and approaches her over and over without discouragement. When Wataru suddenly feels that he isn’t a good match for someone like Aika and begins to maintain an “appropriate” distance with her, the development dumbfounds Aika and causes her to wonder if Wataru suddenly dislikes her. Thus begins a romantic comedy about two people who have mutual feelings for one another, but think that their respective feelings are unrequited.
Kazuomi Koga (Rent-A-Girlfriend) is directing the anime with Michiko Yokote (Call of the Night) as series composer and Miyabi Ozeki (World’s End Harem) as character designer. Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ are co-producing.
Meanwhile, the cast includes:
• Naoya Miyase as Wataru Sajo
• Akiho Suzumoto as Aika Natsukawa
• Yumiri Hanamori as Kei Ashida
• Mikako Komatsu as Kaede Sajo
• Kaori Ishihara as Rin Shinomiya
Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha originally began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2018. It has inspired a manga adaptation by Popuri Yoshikita.
