The Garden of Words‘ stage adaptation is a collaboration between Whole Hog Theatre (Princess Mononoke stage adaptation) and Nelke Planning (Attack on Titan, Naruto, and Sailor Moon stage productions). It will be performed at London’s Park Theatre from August 10 to September 9. In Japan, the play will begin in November.

According to Comic Natalie, the Japanese run will feature Kurumu Okamiya and Mitsuki Tanimura as its lead performers.

The Garden of Words was Shinkai’s last pre-Your Name movie. The 46-minute CoMix Wave Films-produced title follows the developing relationship between a teenager and a young woman, who only encounter each other at a garden on rainy days. Kenichi Tsuchiya provided the character designs while Daisuke Kashiwa composed the music.
