Sanrio has announced its return to Anime Expo, with its booth space this year to feature the My Melody x Kuromi Around the World Gift Shop.
The Lolita fashion-inspired My Melody x Kuromi Around the World Gift Shop will allow Sanrio fans to engage with claw machines and a “life-size vending machine photo op.” It will also feature Hot Topic exclusive Sanrio merchandise (Sanrio partnered with Hot Topic for the booth) like the My Melody x Kuromi Lolita collection, as well as merchandise based off the Kuromi’s Pretty Journey short animation series, which debuted its English dub on the Hello Kitty and Friends YouTube channel on June 27.
As part of the Hot Topic collaboration, Kuromi and My Melody will also show up at the fashion retailer’s booth on each day of the four-day event from 12 to 3 PM PT.
Outside of the booth, Sanrio will have a presence during Anime Expo 2023’s Welcome Ceremony on July 1, with Kuromi performing her Greedy Greedy dance and promoting her #KUROMIFYTHEWORLD initiative. Over at the North Plaza, fans can buy merch like cafe-themed plushies and apparel from the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck.
Sanrio will also run a #WhereisKUROMI promotion, which prompts attendees to track Kuromi down in the convention center and make social media posts.
