The sixth season of the Bones-produced anime ran for two cours, with the first premiering last October while the second cour began in January 2023. It was streamed on sites like Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Bilibili outside of Japan. The staff included Kenji Nagasaki as chief director, Masahiro Mukai as director, Studio Orphee’s Yousuke Kuroda as series composer and scriptwriter, and Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima as character designers.

My Hero Academia is based on the Shueisha-published manga series by Kouhei Horikoshi, which began serialization in 2014 and has 38 tankoubon volumes as of June 2023. The manga is serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump and published under the Jump Comics label.

Viz Media describes the manga as:

Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…

The first season of the anime began airing in 2016.
