The Liar Liar anime adaptation has received a two-minute trailer previewing its newly announced two theme songs, the opening “LIES GOES ON” by May’n and the ending “fakey merry game” by SMILE PRINCESS.
Both songs are going on sale on August 23.
Liar Liar is premiering in Japan on July 8. The anime is based on the KADOKAWA-published Liar Liar: Usotsuki Tenkousei wa Ikasama Cheat chan to Game wo Seisuru sou desu light novel series written by Haruki Kuou and illustrated by konomi, which began in 2019 and has 13 volumes as of March 2023.
The story takes place on Academy Island, where the ranks of students are decided through “Games.” Protagonist Hiroto is a transfer student who somehow beats the champion Sarasa and becomes the fastest to reach the rank of “Seven Star.” Hiroto’s rank is actually based on a lie, but he has to maintain his position in order to achieve his goal.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Genta Nakamura as Hiroto Shinohara, Yukina Shutou as Himeji Shirayuki, Wakana Kuramochi as Sarasa Saionji, Jun Fukuyama as Seiran Kugasaki, Sora Tokui as Suzuran Kasami, Junya Enoki as Shinji Enomoto, and Saori Oonishi as Nanase Asamiya.
The light novels, which are published under MF Bunko J label, have also inspired a manga adaptation by Funa Yukina.
