Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King Shows Off “Evil Wizard Kings” In New Trailer

The upcoming Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King will notably feature several past Wizard Kings in its story. While they’ve previously been seen in earlier trailers for the anime movie, Netflix has now released a character trailer dedicated to a few of those resurrected Wizard Kings — Edward (the 20th), Princia (the 11th), and Jester (the 16th).

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King will premiere on Netflix on June 16. It was originally meant to premiere on March 31. Netflix describes its original plot, which is supervised by Black Clover creator Yuuki Tabata, as:

As a lionhearted boy who can’t wield magic strives for the title of Wizard King, four banished Wizard Kings of yore return to crush the Clover Kingdom.

The voices behind the Wizard Kings in the new character trailer are Houchuu Ootsuka as Edward, Miyuki Sawashiro as Princia, and Fumiya Takahashi as Jester. The main big bad of the movie. also a Wizard King, is Toshihiko Seki as Conrad. The returning cast from the series include Gakuto Kajiwara as Asta, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Yuno, Junichi Suwabe as Yami Sukehiro, and Kana Yuuki as Noelle Silva. 

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King‘s staff includes Ayataka Tanemura (Black Clover second half, Fuuto PI assistant director) as director, Johnny Onda (Black Clover: Yuno no Sho light novel author) and Ai Orii as scriptwriters, Itsuko Takeda (Black Clover) as character designer, and Minako Seki (Black Clover) as music composer. Studio Pierrot is the animation production studio. 

The Black Clover anime series ran from 2017 to 2021 with Tatsuya Yoshihara (Chainsaw Man action director) directing the first half and serving as chief director for the second. The Shueisha-published manga began in 2015 and has 34 tankoubon volumes as of March 2023.

The manga is serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump and published under the Jump Comics label. The Black Clover franchise also includes spin-off mangas, a light novel, and video games.
